Washington DC Botanical Garden

This is the best thing I found in DC. Infact I loved it so much that I clicked 200+ images in under 1.5 hours.

DC Botanical Gardens

The botanical garden is divided into the open garden and the green house.

Many of the plants are from various parts of the world.

The open garden is for plants that can adjust to the weather here all round the year.

The green house is temperature controlled for plants from various countries that cannot survive the DC weather. Not the entire thing with a single temperature. But it has many sections with various different temperatures.

Some parts are quite hot like those for cactus plants. So the green house helps trap the heat for such plants.

Some are quite cold maybe because they come from cold places .

The Mushroom's place has periodic jets of water sprayed to maintain damp conditions.

There are stairs that lead you to the 2nd floor of the green house. It gives a good view of the entire place.

Fishing @ Holmes Run Park

There wasn't a need for this blog, but wrote it as photos appear better here than in Picasa.

Started towards the Holmes Run Park Stream at 5.15 am; reached by 5.45.

In the beginning, there was water......

Still places like these usually have fishes.

There is a jogging/cycling path alongside the stream......

......and it crosses the stream at many places like these.

Forests

This is the last photo. But no photo of fish caught???? Well, I didn't catch any though Mustafa did catch 3 Blue Gills. The rules here are different. You have to catch and immediatley release the fish. Can't take it home; you can only practise here. And on top of it, no live baits. So as soon he caught the fish got too involved in releasing it back.

Near central park:

The only green area in Manhattan. There is not a single tree on any road. I mean you will walk a Km and not come across a tree. So this rectangular huge garden has been kept for the same. It has a zoo, a pond, a cycling track, gardens and a golf field.

Rockfeller/ Empire State

There were two option to view NYC from top. Empire State from 86th floor and Rockfeller from 70th floor. We chose Rockfeller because we wanted to see the tallest building from a height. I mean if we go onto the Empire State, we can't see Empire State.
